ABOUT THE ARTIST: Georgiy Georgievich Chernyavsky – was born on 20th of April 1924 in the Dnipropetrovsk city. He studied at the Dnipropetrovsk Art College, and the Kyiv Art Institute. Mentors: Trokhimenko K., Shtilman I. Since 1951 he participates in republican, all-Union and foreign exhibitions. Personal exhibitions took place in Dnipropetrovsk (1958, 1967, 1970), Kyiv (1960, 1970). Since 1955 until 1964, he worked as a mentor and director of the Dnipropetrovsk Art School. Since 1958 until 1974, he was a Head of the Dnipropetrovsk organization of the Union of Artists of the USSR, and since 1974 until 1981 – the Secretary of the Board of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. Since 1975 until 1978 he taught at the Kyiv Art Institute. Since 1969 – Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. National Artist of the Ukrainian SSR since 1976. In 1978 Laureate of T. Shevchenko State Prize. The artist died on 31st of March 1981.
