Shatalin Victor Vasilievich
Shatalin Victor Vasilievich – was born on 15th of November 1926 in the village of Zemlyanye Khutory, Saratov region, Russia. He studied at the Leningrad Art School and in the Kyiv Art Institute. Mentors: Trokhimenko K., Titova G., Eleva K., Sharonov M. Since 1954 he participated in republican, all-Union and foreign exhibitions. Since 1957 – Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Since 1964 – Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. Since 1967 – National Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. Since 1973, he taught at the Kyiv Art Institute, and since 1976 – a professor. Corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR since 1978. In 1984 was awarded with the Taras Shevchenko`s State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR. The main works: "On the valleys and the hills" (1957); "Battle Mission" (1960); "The Earth" (1964); "These days glory will not stop" (1964 - 1965); "Lenin died" (1967); "Squads of young fighters were assembled" (1969 - 1970) and others. The artist died on 2nd of July 2003.
