Prokhorov Konstantin Oleksandrovich
Prokhorov Konstantin Oleksandrovich – was born on 20th of December, 1924 in Karavaevo village, Russia. He studied at the Palekh Art School and the N. Samokish Art School in Simferopol. Since 1948 – Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. For several years he has been working as a teacher at the Simferopol Art School and as an employee of the Regional Art Gallery. He also studied at I. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad on part-time course. Since 1951, participates in republican and all-Union exhibitions. Solo exhibitions were held in Simferopol and Kyiv. Since 1955 till 1958 he was a Head of the Crimean regional branch of the Union of Artists of the USSR. In 1955, during the exhibition at the Tretyakov Gallery, two of his works: “Blooming Almond” and “Artek Bay” were presented and liked by Indira Gandhi and her father Jawaharlal Nehru. Since 1960 – Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1974, the artist with his family moved from the Crimea to the Moscow region and settled near the city of Dmitrov. Since 2011 – National Artist of the Russian Federation. The artist`s works are stored in many museums, private collections in Russia and abroad – In France, Germany, USA, Japan, India, Canada and others. Major works: "Heroes on vacation" (1949); Summer in Artek (1955); “Time is Gold” (1960); On the Bridge (1961); "On the construction of the Krasnoyarsk GES" (1963); "Evening. In a free minute" (1964); "In the evening on the raid" (1965) and others.
