Gerts Yuriy Dmitrovich
(1931 – 2012)
Gerts Yuriy Dmitrovich – was born on 27th of February, 1931 in the Lokhovo village, Mukachevo district, Transcarpathian region. In 1955 he graduated from the Uzhgorod School of Applied Arts. Mentors: I. Bokshay, A. Erdelyi, F. Manaylo. Since 1957 he has been a participant of regional, since 1967 – all-Ukrainian, since 1978 – international art exhibitions. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1969. Honored Artist of Ukraine since 1990. Winner of the T. Shevchenko National Award in 1994. In 2003 the artist was awarded the title People's Artist of Ukraine. The artist's works are kept in museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. Lived and worked in Uzhgorod city. The artist died on 15th of September, 2012.
