Erdelyi Adalbert Mykhaylovich
Erdelyi Adalbert Mykhaylovich – was born on 25th of May, 1891 in the Klimovitsa village, Transcarpathian region. Ukrainian painter, one of the founders of the Transcarpathian school of fine art. He studied at the Hungarian Royal Art Institute in Budapest. Mentors: Imre Reves and Karoy Ferenczi. In 1927, together with Josip Bokshay, he founded the Uzhgorod Art School, and in 1931 – the Society of Fine Artists in Subcarpathian region. Since 1929 till 1931, he had been living and working in Prague, Rome, Paris, where he met representatives of impressionism and fauvism. Since 1931 till 1949 he headed the association of Transcarpathian artists, was the first director of the first art school in Transcarpathia and the first chairman of the Transcarpathian regional organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. Art critics consider him one of the most powerful Ukrainian artists of the first half of the 20th century. The artist died on 19th of September, 1955.
