Basov Yakov Aleksandrovich
Basov Yakov Aleksandrovich – was born on 2nd February, 1914 in Simferopol city. He studied in the N.Samokish art studio in Simferopol (1922-1931), and in the All-Russian Academy of Arts in Leningrad (1931 - 1937). Mentors: M. Samokish, V. Shukhaev, I. Brodsky. He worked in the field of easel graphics and painting, mainly in the genre of landscape, in particular the sea. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1958). Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1978). Laureate of the State Prize of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (1997). People's Artist of Ukraine (2004). Participated in exhibitions: Republican since 1949, All-Union since 1955, personal - Kyiv (1955, 1956), Leningrad (1960, 1963, 1964), Yalta (1954, 1961, 1963), Simferopol (1961, 1964). Major works: a series of watercolors - landscapes of the Crimea (1955 - 1962); Kyiv (1963); The Baltic States (1960 - 1963); "The Sea" (1948), "On Peaceful Days" (1953), "An Evening on the Road" (1955), "Autumn in the Vineyards" (1956), "Almond Blossoms" (1968), "Silver Day" (1990), "Boats" (1991), "Morning" (1992), "Sunny Yalta" (1994); "Sevastopol" (1972), "Kerch fishing" (1974), "Land of Spring" (1977), "Black Sea", "Land of Ukraine" (1980), "Kyiv Today" (1982). Works are kept in the National Art Museums of Ukraine. The city museum of the artist Basov was opened in Alupka in 1997. The Artist died in 2004.
